Dorothy Mae Blackwell

October 23, 1916 — February 24, 2009

Dorothy Mae Blackwell, 92, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Blackwell was born Oct. 23, 1916 in Myrtle, Mo. Before her death there were five generations of her family living. Mrs. Blackwell was of the Protestant faith, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing and quilting.

On April 5, 1936 she married Ted Blackwell in Dalton, Ark. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1990.

Survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Campbell and Uveta Newcomer, of Poplar Bluff and Doretta Seals, of Pocahontas, Ark.; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Doran, of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel with the Rev. Dan Helton officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
