Dorothy Jurls

Dorothy Nell Jurls, 87, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center. Mrs. Jurls was born May 14, 1922 in Central City, Kentucky. She was retired from Florsheim Shoe Factory and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On Sept. 23, 1939 she married Paul Raymond Jurls and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1990.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruby Jean Vinson of Poplar Bluff and Carol Sue Lawrence and companion J. D. Green of Broseley; 13 grandchildren, Randy Phelps of Union City, Tenn., Sheila Phelps, Charlotte Yeley, Darla Phelps, Paula Schock, Traci Phelps, Rhonda Uhl all of Poplar Bluff, Ricky Lawrence of Broseley, Roger Lawrence of Indiana, Robbie Jurls, Marcie Jurls and Lee Jurls all of Calif. And Vicky Jurls of Florida; 19 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Hooper of Poplar Bluff.

Preceding Mrs. Jurls in death were her parents, William and Jayley (Wilson) Arnold; a daughter, Naomi Muller, a son, William Roy Jurls, four sisters, Lillian Arnold, Ruby Arnold, Anna Jean Lewis and Della Rae Arnold, and two brothers, William Floyd Arnold and Robert Eugene Arnold.

Visitation will be at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Ward officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
