Douglas Earl Brown

Douglas E. ""Doug"" Brown, 60, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Brown was born Oct. 18, 1949 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Episcopal faith, and had retired from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam, and was a member of Missouri Army National Guard for 18 years. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing.

On Feb. 26, 1971 he married Janet Marie Spradling in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Susanne Brown of Poplar Bluff; his father, Cecil Taylor of Wright City, Mo.; 2 grandchildren, Autumn Danyelle Brown and Austin Michael Grant; a brother, Lloyd Dale Brown and wife Peggy of Chesapeake, Va.; and nephews, Michael Brown, Chris Brown, Jeffrey Brown and Todd Brown all of Chesapeake, Va.

His mother, Doris Ermma (Williams) Brown Taylor preceded Mr. Brown in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Luther Goins officiating. According to Mr. Brown's wishes he will be cremated after the service, therefore a burial is not planned.
