Dr. Robert Marshall Spiker, 95, a long-time retired chiropractor of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Dr. Spiker, the son of the late Marshall and Margret Grace Berry Spiker, was born Jan. 30, 1921 in Swayzee, Ill. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ and had retired after many years of practice at Spiker Chiropractic Clinic in Poplar Bluff. Dr. Spiker proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps, where he was a radio operator and also flew in a B-25 Bomber as a side gunner in 58 missions with 228 combat hours over India, North Africa and Italy. During his tenure of service Dr. Spiker was awarded an Air medal, a SWPA ribbon with two battle stars and an ETO ribbon with two battle stars. He loved to read and study his Bible.
On March 17, 1946, he married Juanita Ballard, who preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1995. On Sept. 13, 2003, he married Betty Morrow. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Janine Francis and her husband David of Frisco, Texas and a son, Robert Spiker of Searcy, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Virginia Rust of Wabash, Ind.
A daughter, Vicki Ignelzi also preceded Dr. Spiker in death.
Visitation will begin from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial with full military honors will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Vernon Curry officiating.
