Dwain Clark Kennedy, 70, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at the Missouri Veteran's Home, in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Kennedy was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Gideon, Mo. He was a member of New Life Christian Church. Mr. Kennedy taught school at Poplar Bluff Junior and Senior High Schools and later retired from the Junior High School as a counselor. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed music, reading, painting, going to the river and camping.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Kennedy and wife Kim, of St. Louis and Chaplain Major Scott Kennedy and wife Dawn, of Ft. Bragg, NC; six grandchildren, Grace Kennedy, Malachi Kennedy, Rachel Kennedy, Mikayla Kennedy, Joshua Kennedy and Josiah Kennedy; two sisters, Winnie Spickelmier, of Essex and JoAnn Weatherly, of Cape Girardeau; and three brothers, Ardell Kennedy and Kenneth Kennedy, both of Poplar Bluff and Wincel Kennedy, of Dallas, Tex.
His parents, John Osmer and Nettie (nee, Hargraves) Kennedy preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Morris Ball and Chaplain Major Scott Kennedy officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 11 a.m. Monday
