Eathel M. Scott, 92, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Scott was born September 5, 1916 in Hugoton, Kan. She had formerly worked as a nurses' aid at the Lutheran Home in St. Louis. Mrs. Scott was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; she received a 10 year certificate for her volunteer service for RSVP. She also enjoyed gardening, and listening to church services on TV.
On October 10, 1936 she married Paul Scott in Poplar Bluff and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1988.
Surviving are 3 sons, Anthony Carl Dean Fry and wife Rita of Poplar Bluff, William Neal Scott and wife JoAnn of Winfield, MO, and Richard Dale Scott of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Alpha Willard Lewis of Brazil, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin and Eva May (Modesitt) Lewis; a daughter, Eathel Pauline Prince, 2 grandchildren, Anthony Carl Dean Fry, Jr. and Timothy James Fry; a daughter-in-law Thelma Louise Scott and 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Vistitation will begin at 12:00 noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at the Grassy Friendship Cemetery at Grassy, Mo.
The family requests memorials may be made to the New Home General Baptist Church.
