Edith Mitchell Law

Edith Mitchell Law, 92, of Simpsonville, SC, and a former resident and retired teacher of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Jan. 20. 2010 at the National Healthcare Center in Mauldin, SC.

Mrs. Law was born April 27, 1917 in Mexico, Mo. She was a member of Living Word Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff; and was a graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Mrs. Law had retired after 43 years as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of the Missouri State Retired Teacher's Association, and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mrs. Law enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and church activities.

On Dec. 28, 1945 she married Arthur Lee Mitchell in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1979. On Nov. 28, 1981 she married Chester Law in Fairdealing. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters: Georgia Wolfe of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. And Betty Zeller and husband Michael of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren: Terry Zeller and Kelly Geisler both of South Carolina; and three great-grandchildren: Michael Geisler, Daniel Geisler and McKenzie Zeller.

Her parents, George Haywood and Zola (Tanner) Crum and brother, Frank Crum also preceded Mrs. Law in death.

Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Living Word Baptist Church on Township Line Road in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Donnie Edmonds officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
