Edna G. Malone (Hanner) Kenser

Edna Malone Kenser. 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Kenser, the youngest and only daughter of the late Lon and Mettie (Foster) Hanner, was born Sept. 3, 1932 in Knobel, Ark. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ, and was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Kenser was a graduate of the first LPN class in Poplar Bluff and in 2008 she received a 50 year certificate for keeping her license up to date. In 1979, she and her late husband, Herman Malone joined the SEMO Blind Club where they were active for many years. Mrs. Kenser was a former nursing home ombudsman, a former member of the Eve's Project (reading the Bible to the blind), a RSVP - VVA's, a Deputy at the VA Medical Center and a former member of the VFW. She also served as a guide to the blind whenever there was a need, whether it be at conventions, public meetings, fundraisers or simply shopping or going out to eat.

Other survivors include two children: Linda Malone (George) Darnell and Oneil (Donna) Malone of Poplar Bluff; four step-children: Sue (Tommy) Kenser, Gary (Darlene) Kenser, Larry (Kim) Kenser and Kim David (Tandy) Kenser of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Raymond Hanner of Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Kenser was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Richard Lee Malone and three brothers: David Hanner, Gale Hanner and Franklin Hanner.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at Bond Cemetery in Knobel, Ark., with family member, Rick Holden officiating.
