Edward Earl Chaffin

Edward Earl Chaffin, 68, of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Chaffin was born Oct. 23, 1944 in Ash Hill, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam, and was an over the road truck driver. Mr. Chaffin was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed woodworking, riding horses, camping and snowmobiling.
In 1969, he married Barbara June Jackson in Broseley, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 1970 along with their only child, a daughter, Angela Dawn Chaffin.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Jane Smothers and husband, Roger, of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Danny ""Dan"" Chaffin and wife, Joann, of Freedom, Pennsylvania, and Ernie Chaffin and wife, Betsy of Williamsville; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
His parents, Edward and Carrie (Hickman) Chaffin also preceded Mr. Chaffin in death.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor Dan Chaffin officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
