Edward Silas Malone

June 26, 1926 — July 24, 2011

Edward Silas Malone, 85, entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Malone was born June 26, 1926 in Neelyville, Mo. He graduated from Lone Hill School, Southern Baptist College at Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. Mr. Malone was an active member of First Assembly of God Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the Audio Department. He was a former educator, and had retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance company with a 36-year record of service. Mr. Malone was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He highly valued spending time with his family and worshipping with his church family. He also enjoyed taking care of his lawn and gardening.

On Aug. 16, 1947, he married Nella Mae Walker in Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Sondra Mae (Malone) McKee and husband, Ronald of Gautier, Miss.; grandson, David McKee and wife Kim; great grandson, Ethan McKee; and great-granddaughter, Abigail McKee all of Montgomery, Ala.; and sister, Betty Ellsworth of Golden Valley, Ariz.

His parents, I.O. Malone and Minnie (Grissmer) Malone, sisters, Cyldia Lumpkins, Phebe Talcott, Mary Hicks and Vera Willis and brother, Paul Malone preceded Mr. Malone in death.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Dan Martin officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
