Edward Henry Shannon

Edward Henry Shannon, 76, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Wednesday, June 03, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Edward was born January 17, 1944 to Alfred and Nettie Shannon in Webster Groves, Missouri.  He married Penelope Tibbs on February 3, 1968, in Rolla, Missouri.

Edward attended Webster Groves High School and went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He retired from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, where he was a mechanical and environmental engineer. He was also a United States Army Veteran, who proudly served during the Vietnam Era. Edward was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed science-fiction books and movies. His greatest pastime was simply hanging out with his beloved family.

Edward is survived by his wife, Penelope Shannon; daughters, Christy Moore & Debora Walker; sister, Gloria Myers; brother, Robert Shannon; and six grandchildren, Elijah, John, Samuel, Caroline, Dejah, and Rosalie.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Shannon; his parents, Alfred and Nettie Shannon; and four siblings, Richard Shannon (Rita), Alfred Shannon (Geraldine), Patricia Biega (Walter), and Georgia Tyner Gupton (Bill).

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
