Emil Ray Shelton, 95 of Williamsville, MO, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 29, 2019.
Emil was born August 23, 1923 the son of Marion and Anna Shelton of Paint Rock Hollow in Shannon County, Mo.
Emil served in the United States Army during World War II and was amongst the first troops to land at Normandy beach on D-Day. Emil's courageous actions helped to capture enemy soldiers. Because of this he was awarded the bronze star medal for heroic and meritorious service.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Shelton, Phil Phillips, Gary (Sandra) Ward and Ronnie Harty; one daughter Joy (Ken) Hicks. Twelve grandchildren Cristina (Bill) Ritter, Susan (Steve) Gillihan, Shelly (Kyle) Borrd, Casey (Kelly) Hicks, Kathy (Nathan) Kirkley, Ron Wes (Amber) Harty, Gary (Haley) Ward II., Racheal (Nicole Collins) Ward, Jess (Kim) Ward, Jan (Carla) Hicks, Scott Hicks, Charles (Dana) AuBuchon, Kelly AuBuchon and twenty-nine great- grandchildren.
Throughout his life Emil was blessed with two wonderful spouses who preceded him in death, Melba (Evans) Shelton and Velma (Ward) Shelton, He was also preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Evetta Phillips and Patty Harty and a grandson Scott Phillips.
Visitation will be from 2 pm - 3 pm with Funeral Service immediately following at 3 pm at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Emil will be laid to rest beside his wife Velma in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
