Emma T. Bennett

Emma T. Bennett, 89, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at The Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Bennett was born Sept. 11, 1921 in Kennett, Mo. She was a member of New Home General Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bennett enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, gardening, listening to gospel music and fishing with her husband.

On Oct. 16, 1936 she married Byrtle D. Bennett in White Oak, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include six children, John D. Bennett and wife, Sherry of Paragould, Ark., Linda K. Palmer and husband, Robert of Crawfordville, Fla., Junell Knight and husband Dennis and Billy J. Bennett all of Poplar Bluff, Jerry D. Bennett, Sr. and wife Donna of Dexter, Mo. and Sue Swindle and husband Jim of Jonesboro, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Scott Swindle and wife, Melissa, Jerry D. Bennett, Jr., Jennifer Bennett, Christopher Knight and wife, Christina, Marcus Knight and wife, Tracey, Shawn Bennett and wife, Charito, Shannon Bennett and wife, Kim, Samantha Drew and husband, Matt, Justin Hawkins and Jon Hawkins; 14 great-grandchildren, Erica Wentworth, Michael Swindle, Courtney Swindle, Chelsea Bennett, Hannah Frazier, Colton Knight, Bailey Knight, Ian Knight, Trevor Knight, Christian Knight, Shaun Bennett, Jr., Taylor Bennett, Rylee Bennett and Ryder Bennett; a brother, Buford L. Lawson and wife, Christine of Jonesboro, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, LaDonna Bennett of Poplar Bluff; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Bennett of Granite City, Ill.

Her parents, Henry and Lora E. Morgan Lankford also preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
