Emma D Lewis

Emma D. Lewis, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff where she had resided for the past ten years.

Emma, the daughter of the late John and Carrie Stephens Harris, was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Lodi, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and had retired from the Butler County Health Department. Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and always welcomed everyone with open arms. She was meticulous about her appearance and loved being glamorous.

Emma's first husband, George Owen preceded her in death in 1954; her second husband, Robert Watkins preceded her in 1975 and her third husband, Roy Lewis preceded her in 1998.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Joe) Shrewsbury of Waterloo, Ill.; four grandchildren, Robert (Emily) Smith, R. Zachary (Jessica) Bianco Smith, Kyle (ReAnna) Smith and Courtney (Matthew) Harper; eight great-grandchildren; and her family at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center.

A son, David G. Watkins, a sister, Mable Hendrix and five brothers, Lowell Harris, Lee Harris, Ollie Buford Harris, Cecil Harris and John Eugene "Gene" Harris also preceded her in death.

The family will receive family and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. Dr. William Vail will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
