Emma Fay Wallis, 90 of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, March, 31, 2015 after a brief stay for hospice care at The Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wallis was born June 16, 1924 in Qulin, Mo., to the late John and Beulah (Hewlett) Reed. She enjoyed Church, playing Scrabble, cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Wallis was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she had served as Church Clerk, Sunday school teacher for young children, Mission's booster and was in charge of the ladies' Dorcas Club.
On August 24, 1941, she married George Thomas Wallis Jr., who preceded her in death March 30, 2005. They were married 63 years.
She is survived by her children: Gary T. Wallis, of Florida, Nelson Wallis (Karen), Randy Wallis (Gwen), Georgie Wallis-Barks and Valerie Lawrence (Terry), all of Poplar Bluff.; one brother Melvin Alexander, of St Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Heath Wallis (Sarah), of Derby, KS, Sarah Harmon, of Camdenton ,Mo, Christopher Barks of Delaware, OH, George M Wallis, Rebekah Lawrence and Elizabeth Johnson (Eddie), all of Poplar Bluff, Moeko Wilson (Matt), of Dallas, TX, Seiji Wallis, of Columbus, GA; 12 great grandchildren: Cody and Conner Wallis, of Derby, KS, Brendon, Logan and Ethan Harmon, all Camdenton, MO, Koji and Emi Wilson of Dallas, TX, Tyler, Kaitlynn and Brayden Lawrence, all of Wichita, KS, and Colten and Dalton Wallis, of Bell Plain, KS.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel, with Bishop David Allen and Pastor Kenny King officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery
