Ernestine Johnson Roberts

Ernestine Johnson Roberts, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Roberts, the seventh child of E.J. and Mary Ann McKeller Johnson, was born Sept. 4, 1950 in Scott County, Mo. She grew up in the Parma and Essex area and later moved to Poplar Bluff where she attended Poplar Bluff Senior High School, graduating in 1971. Mrs. Roberts attended trade school in Sikeston and trained as a culinary student. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.

She married the love of her life, Arvy Gene Roberts in 1979. He preceded her in death on 1998.

To this union were born three sons, Martin Luther Johnson Roberts, Donald Ray Roberts and Sean Christopher Roberts who mourns her passing. She also leaves behind three brothers, Albert Johnson, Harold Johnson and Danny Johnson; two sisters, Barbara McKeller and Carolyn Mason all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Brody Eli Johnson of Sikeston and Miyah Jean Roberts, Azarius Gene Roberts and Zeleah Marie Temple all of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. The Rev. Andrew Jefferson will officiate. Burial will be at Morocco Cemetery.
