Everett Allen

Everett Allen, 82, well known retired businessman of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Allen was born Aug. 5, 1927 in Puxico where he grew up and learned the automobile business from his father who was a mechanic. During his earlier years Mr. Allen worked for Allen Garner Chevrolet Co. in Poplar Bluff. He later owned and operated Allen's Auto and Wrecker Service on South Broadway for many years before turning it over to his son upon retirement. Mr. Allen attended South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.

On Oct. 28, 1950 he was married to Vivian Nadine Chadwell. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2004.

Survivors include a sister, Wilma McGowen of Puxico; and a brother Elmer Allen and his wife Lois also of Puxico.

His parents, Audrey and Dena (Hickman) Allen, son, David Everett Allen and brother, Ralph Allen also preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. C. R. Placher officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
