Fannie Jane Knodell, 95, of Poplar Bluff formerly of Wappapello died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Knodell was born Oct. 10, 1913 in Ellsinore. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and previously served as secretary for Ambassadors for Christ Ministries. She was a faithful pastor's wife and a homemaker. While the Wappapello Dam was being built Mrs. Knodell worked for the Corp of Engineers as a cook. She loved to sing and sang with the Little Brushy Quartet
On March 3, 1932 she married Rev. Victor Marvin Knodell in Wappapello. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1991.
Survivors include two sons: Rev. Tommy Knodell and wife Joyce and Joe Knodell and wife Donna, all of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren: Kurt Knodell and wife Julie and Cynthia Barks and husband Cary all of Poplar Bluff, Penny Keathley and husband Kenneth of Roseville, NC, Kristi Gilmore and husband Brian of Wentzville and Robert Knodell of Jefferson City; eight great-grandchildren: Caleb Knodell, Cody Knodell, Kelly Barks, Mallory Barks, Matt Keathley and wife Deana, Allison Keathley, Caden Gilmore and Lauren Gilmore; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Luther and Gladys (Crowley) Conner; sister, Alpha Payton; and brothers, Ott Conner and Luther Conner, Jr. preceded Mrs. Knodell in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Wappapello Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Knodell officiating and Mr. Joe Knodell assisting. Burial will be at Wappapello Cemetery.
