Florine Mcgowen Moore

Florine Moore, 93, of Cahokia, Ill., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was awarded her angel wings and took her final flight into Eternity Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Integrity Healthcare in Columbia, Ill.

Florine, the daughter of the late Artie L. and Bertha E. Pennington McGowen, was born Feb. 26, 1926 in the Lone Hill Community of Butler County. She was a member of Little Brushy Missionary Baptist Church at Wappapello and had retired as a Certified Dietary Manager at Doctors Regional Medical Center in 1986. Florine was a former member of the Community Nutrition Corp at Twin Towers and was a member of the Altrusa Club. She was a loving wife and mother and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Florine married the love of her life William Franklin Moore on Jan. 26, 1946 in Butler County. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2009.

Survivors include her daughter, Nola Sue Johnson of Cahokia, Ill.; three grandchildren, Cyndi Capps and husband Bobby of Cahokia, Randy Johnson and wife Kara of Belleville, Ill. and Allen Johnson also of Cahokia; six great-grandchildren, Chelsea Capps and Jason Renaud and Trinity Capps of Cahokia, Trey Johnson and Brooke Johnson of Belleville, and Andy Jackson and wife Jennifer and Sabrina Johnson also of Cahokia; great-great-grandchildren, Wesley Renaud, Harper Renaud, Landon Renaud, Adam Renaud, Dillon Jackson, Payton Jackson all of Cahokia and Isabelle Johnson, MaKenzley Johnson and Silus Johnson of Dupo, Ill.; brothers, Roy McGowen and Artie McGowen Jr. and wife Sue of Poplar Bluff; and sisters, Frances Inman and Dimple Sallee of Poplar Bluff, Vivian McMillin and husband Fred of Peveley, and Beulah Clark and Glenda Kirkman and husband Vaughn also of Poplar Bluff; a brother-in-law Bill Kirkman of Poplar Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Florine was also preceded in death by an infant son, William Franklin “Billy” Moore Jr.; a son-in-law Wesley Johnson Sr.; a brother, Bob McGowen and wife Louise; a sister Lois Kirkman; a sister-in-law Joann; and three brothers-in law, Norman Inman, Virgil Sallee and Bill Clark.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Tim Schultz officiating. Burial will be at Little Brushy Cemetery in Wappapello.
