Floyd M. Kester

Floyd M. ""Blue"" Kester, 88, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Kester was born August 30, 1922 in Chilton, Mo. and was retired as Maintenance Foreman with the Poplar Bluff City Street Department. He was of the Protestant faith and was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing. Mr. Kester was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII.

On March 10, 1943 he married Mary E. Nohr in Van Buren, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Sandra Ann Hughey and husband Gerald and Jim Kester all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Joe Hughey and wife Amy of Wildwood, Mo., Jeff Hughey and wife Theresa of Poplar Bluff, Jared Kester of Columbia and Erik Kester of Edwardsville, Ill., three great grandchildren, Conor Hughey, Spencer Hughey and Ethan Hughey all of Wildwood, Mo., and three brothers, Clyde Kester and Paul Kester and wife Shirley all of Desloge, Mo. and T.J. Kester and wife Gwen of Anadarko, Okla.

Preceding Mr. Kester in death were his parents, Leander Ray and Garnet (Dorris) Kester, two sisters, Cuba Lewis and Gladys Jewell and two brothers, Loyd Kester and Boyd Kester.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
