Frances M. Allensworth

Frances Mae Allensworth, 88, of Broseley, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Allensworth was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Poplar Bluff, and was of the General Baptist faith. For 35 years she worked for Modern Laundry and Cleaning while raising her five children before retiring. Mrs. Allensworth enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and sewing.
On Oct. 1, 1938, she married Ollie Ray Allensworth, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include five children, Melvin R. Allensworth and Arthur D. Allensworth, both of Broseley, Sharon L. Albright, of Ellsinore, and Charles K. Allensworth and George D. Allensworth, both of Fisk; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorene Jourdan, of Great Falls, Mont. and Mary J. Decker, of West Plains, Mo.
Her parents, George W. and Julia Mae (Holder) Mitchener and brother, Charles H. Mitchener preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel with the Rev. Gaylor Butler officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
