Frances Lee Gower

Frances Lee Gower, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Gower was born Nov. 25, 1932 in Chaonia, Mo. to the late Henry and Vada Hendrix Magill. She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Gower enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, gardening, crocheting, cooking and traveling.

On Jan. 5, 1957 she married David J. Gower in Hernando, Miss. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2006.

Survivors include four children: Carol Gaines (Bradley) of Ocean Springs, Miss., Rickey Gower (Serena), of Gatewood, Mo., Cheryl Williams (Ronnie) and Teresa Simpson (James), all of Poplar Bluff; nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Sarah, Heather, Rickey, A.J., Bill, Robert, Amelia and Brian; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Cardwell of Hot Springs, Ark.; a brother, Jerry Magill, all of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Stella Parrish and brothers, Jackie Magill, Joy Magill, and Lonnie Magill also preceded Mrs. Gower in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 am Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 am in the chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
