Frances Nadine Skinner

Frances Nadine Skinner, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Crystal Oaks Nursing Home in Festus.

Mrs. Skinner was born April 5, 1921 in Hendrickson. She was extremely proud of the fact that in 1995 at the age of 74 she graduated from high school. Mrs. Skinner was a member of the Star Community Church in Fisk, and had retired from IT&T Avon Tubing in Rochester, Mich. She was an avid artist and well known for her drawing. Mrs. Skinner enjoyed cooking, reading, singing, dancing and working crossword puzzles.

On Oct. 21, 1940 she married Sylvester Skinner in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1990.

Survivors include her children: Joe D. Dunlap and his wife Gloria and Elsie Skinner all of Oxford, Mich. and Joy Dinkins and her husband Ron Wilkins of Festus; daughter-in-law, Joan Skinner of Crossville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren: Mark Dunlap, Steve Dunlap, Allison Allen, Chris Dunlap, John Barnowsky, Andy Barnowsky, Kim Skinner, Laura Mohr, Tony Skinner, Todd Mann, David Mann, Amy Maitland, Jami Ternes, Bill Taylor, Chad Dinkins, Christopher Wilkins and Cameron Wilkins; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Skinner was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph B. and Katheryn (Woods) Deaton, son, Wayne Skinner and sisters, Thelma Pigg and Lettie Pennell.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Butler County.
