Frank Dean Simmons

Frank Dean Simmons, 56, of Poplar Bluff died unexpectedly Monday, June 23, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Simmons was born on Aug. 21, 1951, in Poplar Bluff. He was a life-long resident of Butler County, attending school at Twin Springs Elementary, and Poplar Bluff High school. Mr. Simmons worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory until it closed, at which time he retired. He made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ in 1964, and became a charter member of Township Line Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his mother, Alice Simmons, with whom he lived with and took care of; sister, Sandra Ward and husband Gary, of Doniphan; brother, Allen Simmons and wife Diana, of Poplar Bluff; six nieces and nephews, Racheal Clyburn and husband Larry along with their three children, Alyson, Nicholas, and Emaly, of Dalzell, South Carolina, Gary Ward, II, and Jess Ward, both of Doniphan, Raymond Simmons and wife Kimberly along with their daughter Amber, Mark Simmons and wife Jennifer and their two sons Jacob and Joshua, Misha Simmons and her two children Summer Portell and Anthony Portell, all of Poplar Bluff; and numerous friends with whom he enjoyed spending time with, as well as hunting, shooting pool, playing cards, baseball, barbecuing and attending and watching races.

His father, Norman Simmons preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Township Line Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Lloyd Steinshouer officiating. Burial will be at the Montgomery-Sheppard Cemetery, by the church.
