Fredda Lee Norden

Fredda Lee Norden, 88, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Miss Norden, daughter of the late Fred W. and Vida P. Davidson Norden, was born in Poplar Bluff and attended school at Kinyon, Williamson-Kennedy, J. Minnie Smith, Poplar Bluff Junior and Senior High and Southeast Missouri State University, in Cape Girardeau. She was Business Education Instructor at Benton High and worked a year at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Miss Norden transferred with the Federal Service to Washington, D.C. (Corps of Engineers) and then worked for about a year and a half for a private industry. In January of 1960, she re-entered Federal Service and transferred to Fort Campbell, Ky., where she resided for a few years. She subsequently moved to Clarksville, Tenn., retiring on April 1 1985, and returned to Poplar Bluff to be near her mother. Miss Norden was a member of First United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, GFWC-MFWC Travel Study Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Fine Arts Club. Having been both a student and completed professional teacher training in Ball room dancing, she continued teaching classes part time wherever she lived. Miss Norden won the state award for outstanding club woman during the General Federation of Women's Clubs in April 28-30, 1988.

Survivors include numerous cousins; and a special friend and caretaker, Connie Wheeling and family of Williamsville.

Miss Norden was also preceded in death by her brother, Nick Kermit Norden.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
