Freddie “Fred” Levi McMillin, age 92, of Pevely, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on January 14, 1934, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of the late Nellie (nee Kilgore) and Freddie McMillin.
He is survived by his wife Bertha “Vivian” (nee McGowen) McMillin; children Kelvin “Bud” (Shirley Muehler) McMillin of Carlyle, Illinois, Vivian “Paula” (John) Miceli of High Ridge, Missouri; Barb (Bill) Maynard of Festus, Missouri, Kent (Randi) Franklin of Ponte Vedra, Florida and Wade (the late Lynda) Franklin of Des Peres, Missouri, grandchildren Amanda (Justin) Ryman, Timothy (Bailey) Danneman, Cameron (Rebecca) Ayers, Caitlin (Kevin) Knepper, Courtney (Patrick) Shawhan, Amy (Jon) Bach, Troy Maynard and Audrey Maynard; great grandchildren Caroline, Nathan, Lilliah, Cecily, Braden, Lillian, Colton, Landon, Hadassah, Hosea, Hilkiah, Hezekiah, Zeke, Walker, Della, Lincoln, Brooks; and his sister Anna Dorris of Poplar Bluff.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Karen Ayers; son Bryant Franklin; and sisters Lucille Gamble and Sylvia Nohr.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean war. He worked as a switching systems installer and wiring tester for AT&T before retiring. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pevely, where he held many offices and had been a member of the church choir. He also participated for years in their bowling league.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family. He was a dedicated Cardinals fan. If he couldn’t watch the game, he listened on his transistor radio. He and Vivian also enjoyed years of square dancing.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 10:30 A.M. until time of services at 12:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Pevely, officiated by Pastor Bryan Roberts. A second visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:30 A.M. until time of services at 12:00 P.M. at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff. Interment with full military honors will be in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Vinyard Funeral Home handling arrangements.
