Freeman F. Grable

Freeman F. Grable, 86, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Grable was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Butler County. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. Mr. Grable was a veteran of the U. S. Army Airborne Division having served as a paratrooper during World War II, and had retired from Mingo Job Corp as a Carpentry Instructor. He was also a 60 year member of the Carpenters Union.

On April 11, 1944 he married Edna Charlene Ray in Corning, Ark. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2002.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Wayne Grable and wife Patty, of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren: Candace Hecker and husband Brian, Jeremy Grable and wife Courtney and Sharon Moss and husband Bill: five great-grandchildren, Austin Grable, Alexis Hecker, Abigail Hecker, Quinlan Grable and Bridger Grable; and sister, Dorothy Davis, also of Poplar Bluff.

His parents, John and Pearl (Morrison) Grable, son, Ronald Grable (2003) and sister, Ruth Grable preceded Mr. Grable in death.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel with Dr. Dick Murray officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
