Gary Richard Fischer

Gary Richard Fischer, Sr., 59, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Center.

Mr. Fischer was born July 27, 1950 in Lincoln Park, Mich., and was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School class of 1969. He was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church, and with over 30 years of experience with all aspects of floor covering was owner of Semo Carpet and Floor Covering Center in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Fischer served in the U. S. Air Force; was a member of the Masonic Lodge #309 of Poplar Bluff, Eastern Star of Poplar Bluff, Eagles Lodge of Wappapello; and was a member of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce as well. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.

On May 9, 1970 he married Phyllis Ward in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons: Shawn Fischer and wife Kari and Gary Richard Fischer, Jr. and wife Laura all of Caddo Mills, Tex.; three grandchildren Colby Fischer, Molly Smith and Jack Richard Fischer; a sister, Janet Fischer of San Antonio, Tex.; two brothers, Donald Fischer and wife Eyvonne of San Antonio, Tex. and Dale Fischer and wife Lynn of Goldsburg, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fischer was preceded in death by his parents Richard Edward and Lucy (Mullinax) Fischer.

A Masonic service will begin at 6 p.m. Monday evening at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with visitation following until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be at Little Brushy Cemetery at Wappapello.
