George Guinn Guffey

George Guinn Guffey, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed into eternity Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at his residence.

George, the son of the late George Francis and Josephine Guinn Guffey, was born May 2, 1944 in Greenwood, Ind. He was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church, and had retired from WW Wood Products, Inc. in Dudley Mo. as a diesel mechanic. George was known as a jack of all trades but was passionate about woodworking and mechanics. He along with his wife Joyce also enjoyed raising Shih-Tzu and Pekingese puppies.

George married Joyce Kathleen Wilson Kearbey on June 29, 2002 in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include two step-children, Jennifer Kearbey (Jeff) Smith of Spring Hill Tenn. and Jeff (Amy) Kearbey of Ellsinore; and three step-grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Sierra Smith and Jaykota Kearbey.

Two sisters, Cora Mae Hanson and Mary Eva Dotson also preceded George in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Roger Mayo officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
