George H. Ladyman

Dr. George H. Ladyman, 84, of Williamsville, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Ladyman was born March 6, 1929 in Knob, Ark. and graduated from Rector High School, Rector, Ark. He was a 1951 graduate of Arkansas State University (B.S. Chemical Engineering), a 1953 graduate of University of Arkansas (M.S.) and a 1957 University of Arkansas School of Medicine (M.D.). Entering the U.S. Air Force in 1958, he completed Flight Surgeon School at Randolph Air Force Base in 1959, served residency in radiology at Brooke Army Medical Center from 1960 to 1963, and received certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1965. He served as Chief of Radiography at UASF Hospital, Carswell AFB, Texas and as Consultant to Surgeon General of U.S. Air Force until 1966, when he relocated to Poplar Bluff to become a member of the staff at Kneibert Clinic and Doctors Regional Medical Clinic.
In 1966, he was a delegate to the State Medical Association serving 15 years and served as counselor to that organization six years. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North America and the Missouri Radiological Society. Dr. Ladyman was a member of the SEMO Foundation for 10 years and served as chairman and board member of Physician's Review Board of Southeast Missouri.
He was a former president of Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Industrial Board, Airport Board and served on the City's transit system committee. He spent 13 years on the Poplar Bluff Planning and Zoning Commission serving as chairman seven years. Dr. Ladyman was also a past member of the Three Rivers Community College Board of Trustees.
In 1983, Dr. Ladyman resigned as chief of staff, medical director and chief of radiology at Kneibert Clinic, when he founded the Professional Corporation and served as president. Along with his original business partner, Dr. James L. Faries, M.D. and their associates, they contracted to provide diagnostic radiology services at Humana Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska and other clinics and facilities that they founded: Anchorage Diagnostic Imaging Center, MRI Group, Chugach Outpatient Imaging Center and Eagle River Outpatient Imaging Service.
Upon returning to the Poplar Bluff area in 2003, Dr. Ladyman continued to practice radiology in Missouri and Arkansas. He especially enjoyed working with acquaintances, both old and new at Physicians Park (now Black River Medical Center) and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
On March 22, 1984 he married Gloria Kay Danuser. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, George H. Ladyman, Jr. and wife, Stacy of Skillman, NJ; stepdaughter, Kecia Cortrecht and husband, Bruce of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren: Sarah S. Ladyman, George (Trey) H. Ladyman, III and Kelci A.E. Cortrecht: brother-in-law, Richard Danuser and wife, Betty of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces: Kathleen Danuser of Albuquerque, NM, Marilyn Smith and husband, Steve and Linda Brown and husband, Poe; and close family friends, Philip Childress, Tina Dannonmueller, Murray Hammond and Terry Harris.
His parents, James N. and Leona A. Townsend Layman preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
