Georgia Ann Evelyn Young, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at her residence.
Georgia, the daughter of the late William Cornelius and Tilda McCain Moore, was born Aug. 23, 1935 in Poplar Bluff. She was a longtime member of Fellowship General Baptist Church and had retired after 37 years with the General Baptist World Headquarters in Poplar Bluff. Georgia loved spending time with her family, gardening, canning, making jelly and being outdoors. Her family described her as a wonderful cook who made the best biscuits in the world.
Georgia was married to Chalmer Dawson Young, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include three children, Evelyn Darlene Bazzell, Charles Dawson Young and Mark C. Young; grandchildren, Diana Faye Bazzell, Debbie Bazzell, and Georgiann Bazzell; great-grandchildren, Dawson Schenks, Dylan Simmers, Carsen Bazzell; two brothers, Larry Moore and Gary Moore; four sisters, Melba Amarine, Margaret Jenkins and Sharon Hafford all of Poplar Bluff and Joyce Labrier of Jackson; and a host of other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Georgia was also preceded in death by a great-grandson Ashton Drake Barker and three sisters, Kathryn Parker, Emma Stovall and Marlene Clay.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 24th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. Burial will be at Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
