Gerald Edward Cook, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. His daughter Lisa Foster, 52, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at her residence.
Mr. Cook, the son of the late George H. and Thelma J. Hiter Cook was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was a member of Palace of Praise, and had proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War as well as a tour at Fire Island, Alaska. After his retirement from the Air Force Mr. Cook worked for Butler County Oil Company, and later retired as a Youth Specialist for Sears Youth Center.
He married Mitzy L. Ringham on Jan 12, 1957 in Hernando, Miss. She survives.
Lisa was born Aug. 3, 1966 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. She was a member of Palace of Praise and was a homemaker.
She married Kenny Foster on Oct. 15, 1982 in Poplar Bluff. He survives.
Mr. Cook is also survived by two children, Jakki L. Nimon of Poplar Bluff and Kimberly Hart of Corning, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, mother and sisters, Lisa is also survived by a daughter, Ashley Cozort of Poplar Bluff; and one grandson.
Visitation for Mr. Cook and Lisa will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Pastor Mike Lampkin will officiate. Inurnment for Mr. Cook will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. at a later date. Burial for Lisa will follow the service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
