Gerald Lynn Rains, 71, of Piedmont, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his residence.
Lynn, the son of the late Herschel L. and Pauline A. Rains, was born May 15, 1947 in Poplar Bluff. He was an entrepreneur in the timber business. Lynn was first and foremost a loving father and grandfather and loved being with his children, grandchildren and other family members. He loved fishing, hunting, playing Pitch and other card games and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers.
Lynn is survived by three children, Matt Rains and wife Rachel Lisa Rains Mitchell and Mike Rains; a brother Joe Rains and wife Joan; a sister Sue Rains Rollins and husband Don; seven grandchildren who were the apples of his eyes, Malcolm Lynn Rains, Mary-Catherine Rains, Zachary Miller, Jeremy Miller, Lillian-Grace Mitchell, Sylvia Mitchell Eliza Jolynn Mitchell; and all other members of the Rains, Scott, King and Kearbey families.
In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by a brother Herschel Ray Rains.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Kearbey Cemetery
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
