Geraldine O. Wilson, 100, of Hermitage, Tenn., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at McKendree Village in Hermitage.
Mrs. Wilson was born Sept. 24, 1910 in Bloomfield, Mo. Moving to Poplar Bluff in 1936, where she lived for 60 years Mrs. Wilson was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, devoted to the Children?s and Women?s Divisions. She worked in school and civic organizations, and was a charter and life member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She also worked as a cosmetologist at the former Rodger?s Drug Store. In 1967, the Business and Professional Women Club elected her Homemaker of the Year. After the death of her husband in 1996 Mrs. Wilson moved to Nashville, Tenn. to be near her daughter. She had resided at McKendree Village in Hermitage, Tenn. for the past 9 years
On Feb. 15, 1929, she married Frank Wilson in Charleston, Mo. Mr. Wilson preceded her in death on June 24, 1996.
Survivors include a sister, Jamie Azilee Lohrke of Hamilton, Mont.; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her parents, James Jefferson Snipes and Irma Mildred Jones Snipes, daughter, Mary Irma Worley, sons, Dr. James Hugh Wilson and Rev. Larry F. Wilson and sisters, Justine Snipes and Nadine Purdue and brothers, James E. Snipes and A. Emanuel Snipes also preceded Mrs. Wilson in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. David Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
