Geraldine A. Wyatt

Geraldine Alwina ""Gerry"" Wyatt, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Wyatt was born Nov. 14, 1922 in Washington, Mo. She graduated from University of Missouri in Columbia in 1944 with a degree in Home Economics and began her teaching career at Stephens College in Columbia from 1946 until 1948. After moving to Poplar Bluff in 1948, and while raising a family of three boys, she obtained her teaching certificate and in 1954 began teaching Home Economics in Qulin for 2 years and then at Fisk for a year. From there she moved to the Poplar Bluff R-1 School where she retired in 1983 after 29 years of teaching Home Economics. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of First United Methodist Church; a member of the Chapter DG of P.E.O.; Green Thumb Garden Club as well as ""Master Gardner""; and Bi-Monthly Current Events Club. She enjoyed her home, working in her flowerbeds and making her yard a show place where she delighted in entertaining her family and friends.

On Aug. 18, 1946 she married Clarence Elliott ""Dutch"" Wyatt. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2002.

Survivors include three sons, William Carl Wyatt and friend, Linda Casey and Ben Geisert Wyatt and wife, Debbie all of Doniphan, Mo. and Robert Russell ""Wolf"" Wyatt and wife Lisa of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, William C. Wyatt, Jr. of Ponca City, Okla., Ashton L. Wyatt of Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert R. ""Bert"" Wyatt, Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Carrie Ann Jones of Neelyville, Mo., Mary Danielle Sisson and Emily Caroline Summers both of Poplar Bluff and Benjamin Asa Wyatt of Columbia, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Jeanette Waldram of Casper, Wyo. and Cora Elizabeth Rademaker of Washington, Mo.; and two brothers, James Franklin Geisert and Benjamin Andrew Geisert both of Washington, Mo.

Her parents, Benjamin F. and Cora Valentine (Schultz) Geisert preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westwood Center Chapel, 2445 N. Westwood in Poplar Bluff.

In lieu of flowers to the family, memorials may be made to Gerry and Dutch Wyatt Memorial Football Scholarship Fund, 1707 Seifert Dr., Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
