Gertrude Anna (Grawe) Cowden

Gertrude Anna Cowden, 69, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Cowden was born July 31, 1942 in Hannibal, Mo. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and had retired as a Real Estate Agent and Interior Decorator. Mrs. Cowden enjoyed being the wife of a Missouri Highway Patrolman, writing music, horseback riding, gardening, building things and going to yard sales.

On Oct. 13, 1962, she married Ronald Dean Cowden, Sr. in New London, Mo. Mr. Cowden preceded her in death on May 22, 2007.

Survivors include her son, Terry Joe Cowden of Poplar Bluff; granddaughter, Kaylee Jo Cowden of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Leona Marie Martin of East Moline, Ill. and Loretta Mary Perrigo of Finger, Tenn.; and three brothers, John Francis Grawe of El Dara, Ill., Walter Anthony Grawe, Jr. of Shelbina, Mo and James Arthur Grawe of Lentner, Mo.

Her parents, Walter Anthony and Jessie Marie (Lowman) Grawe, son, Ronald Dean Cowden, Jr., an infant daughter, Jacquelyn Anna Cowden and an infant brother, Raymond Grawe also preceded Mrs. Cowden in death.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A graveside committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Father David Coon officiating.
