Gertrude Althea Jines, 76, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Jines was born July 26, 1933 in San Diego, Calif. She was of the Christian faith, and was a retired beautician. Mrs. Jines had also volunteered at Northside Nutrition Center for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, helping those in need and going to Country Mart on nights they had gospel and country singers.
On Feb. 5, 1949, she married Charles Ray Jines in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2003.
Survivors include her children: Charles Jines of Carlsbad, Calif., Ivan Jines of Naylor, Rooney Jines of Poplar Bluff and William Jines; grandchildren: Charles Jines and Missy Jines, both of Temecula, Calif., Ivan Timothy Jines of Kentucky, Sarrah Jines of Naylor and Cambee Jines of Bellingham, Wash., Laura Howie of Portland, Oreg. and Daniel Jines of Washington State; close family friend, Janet Hardy of El Cajon, Calif.; sister, Irene Isom of Spring Valley, Calif.; and brother, Roy Harris of Ind.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Jines was preceded by her parents, Howard and Alma (Bates) Harris.
In accordance with Mrs. Jines's wishes she will be cremated and later placed along side her husband in a niche at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
