Gertrude Maude Simpson

Gertrude Maude Simpson, 95, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Simpson was born Oct. 14, 1918 in Maple Ridge, Mich., to the late Floyd and Tena Smith Anderson. She was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and at one time did crafting and sold her work.

On March 30, 1940, she married Lonnie Simpson in Flint, Mich. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children: Diane Roberts (Don) of Farmington, Mo., Judy Simpson, Roger Simpson, and Sharon Bruce (Gary), and daughter in law, Shirley Simpson, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; nine grandchildren: Mark, Kevin, and Scott Roberts, Roy and Rodney Simpson, Kimberly Adams, Brian Bruce, Shonda Arellanes, and Chad Bruce: 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great -great grandchildren.

Her son, Dick Simpson: two brothers, Harvey and Floyd Anderson; and two sisters, Helen Kukla and Geneice Cook, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be at Cotrell Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m., and continuing until time of service at 11 a.m. Brian Sharp will be officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
