Gilbert Taylor

Gilbert Taylor, 81, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Taylor was born May 5, 1932, in Boydsville, Arkansas to Jacob and Ruby Taylor, they preceded him in death.

He was married to Ava Girtman who preceded him in death.

Mr. Taylor graduated from the University of Missouri with his Masters degree and from the University of Arkansas with his Bachelors degree. He was retired from the Missouri Department of Aging. He also served in the Army. He enjoyed fishing and hunting quail.

Survivors include son, Steven Taylor and companion Walla Merrell of Poplar Bluff. Grandchildren are James Joseph and Steven Michael Taylor. Great-grandchildren are Jack and Daniel Taylor and Krysten Williams.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 10:30-11:30 a.m, at the New Life Christian Church United with funeral services starting at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor John Harwell officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri State Cemetery at Bloomfield, MO. Memorial donations may be directed to New Life Christian Church United.
