Gladys Irene (Hindes) Braden

Gladys Irene Braden, 92, of Puxico, passed away Sunday September 6, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Braden, daughter of the late Samuel and Gladys (McKeene) Hindes was born November 5, 1922 in Pittsburg, Pa. She was a member of the Life Chapel in Puxico and was a homemaker. From 1980 to 1992 she owned and operated Pow-Wow Resort at Wappapello. Mrs. Braden enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting, and cooking.

On July 10, 1948 she married Thomas Lewis Braden in Pittsburg, Pa. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children Claudia Curry (Robert) of Wappapello, Jean Ann Mazur (friend, Don) of Florida and Joseph Kelly (Judy) Magellia, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Martha Waleski and Lillie McConnell of Pittsburg, Pa.; four brothers; Chuck Hindes of Chapel Hill, NC., George Hindes Port Charles, La., Walter Hindes of Pittsburg, Pa., and Stanley (Doozer) Hindes of Ohio.

A granddaughter, Sheila Marie Christman, a grandson, Terry Michael Kelly, a great grandson, Elisha Christman, sisters Esther Daurghty and Anna Waleski, brothers, Bud Hindes and Jim Hindes also preceded Mrs. Braden in death.

A visitation will begin 10 am Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello with the funeral services following at 11am. Rev. David Thomas officiating and Pastor Glenn Epps assisting. Burial will be at the Wappapello Cemetery.
