Gladys Lucy Louise Waters

Gladys Lucy Louise Waters, 82, formerly of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away in Benton, AR at Saline Memorial Hospital, Friday, August 23, 2013.

Mrs. Waters was born January 30, 1931 in Pinson, AL to John Wesley and Cora Belle Partain Rice.

On November 5, 1951 she married James Andrew Waters at Columbus, MS. He died on May 15, 1997.

Mrs. Waters was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and during her early years she worked as a cook at an Air Base. She was a member of DAV and Am Vets Auxiliary Post 29 in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, shopping, watching Alabama and Arkansas football, and listening to George Straight, and Blue Grass music.

Survivors include her children; Rex Dennis Waters, of Bernie, MO, Susan Speake (Robbie) of Benton, AR, and James A. Waters Jr., 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister Doris Eads of Leeds, AL.

Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 3 sisters; Flossie Quick, Codine Bryant, and Snoot, and a brother Gene Rice.

A visitation and funeral service will be held from 9:30 ? 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, a visitation will be held in Pinson, AL at Pinson United Methodist Church from 9:30 ? 10:30 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bob Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Marvin Chapel Cemetery.
