Glenda Ray Reese

Glenda Ray Reese, 86, of St Louis, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., entered the Gates of Heaven Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at Delmar Gardens South in St. Louis.

Glenda, the daughter of the late Orval Ernest and Viola May Tuttle James, was born Oct. 16, 1931 in Malden. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had retired as a telephone operator, first from Southwestern Bell and then from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. She loved her God, being with her family especially her grandchildren and her church.

She married the love of her life, Jewell K. Reese on July 19, 1952 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Survivors include three children: Vickie Hefner and her husband Charles of Poplar Bluff, Sheila Swindle and her husband Harold of St. Louis and Kevin Reese and his wife Corinne, of Florence, Ala.; two grandsons: Keith (Stephanie) Hefner and Gabriel (Amy) Reese; four granddaughters: Kristi (Jim) DeArman, Brandy (Doug) Turner, Lydia (Andy) Scarvey and Suzanne (Drew) Reese-Mills; five great-grandchildren: Emily (Clayton) Carpenter, Dylan DeArman, Allison DeArman, Ethan Turner and Walter Scarvey; two step-grandchildren, Nick and Max Turner; a sister Brenda Branneky of Russellville, Ark.; and a brother, Donald James of St. Charles.

A son, Kenneth Michael Reese, a sister, Judith Ann James and two brothers, Harold James and Charles James also preceded Glenda in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Don Mayo will officiate. Burial will be at Qulin Cemetery.
