Glendora V. Decker, 91, of Ponca City, Okla., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Ponca City.
Glendora was born on Aug. 11, 1919 in Poplar Bluff where she grew up, and later met and married Howard Gray. Their first home was on the Gray family farm in Poplar Bluff, where they had two sons Buddy E. and Joseph L. Gray. They later moved to Texas for a short time where Howard became ill and died. After Howard's death Glendora and the boys returned to Poplar Bluff. Several years later she met and married Hal Decker and they had one daughter, Cheryl Ann.
Throughout her life Glendora used her talent and enjoyment of sewing in many ways. She did alterations for Bates Brothers, which later became Cleveland's Men's Wear in Ponca City; worked for various cleaners as a seamstress; and later did alterations from her home for private customers.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Ramsey and husband Bill of Ponca City, Okla.; son, Joe Gray and wife Carole of German Town, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Gloria Gray of Chula Vista, CA.; sister, Ruth Scoggins of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren with the fourteenth due in November.
Her parents, Archie and Rena Scoggins, an infant brother and sister, and son Buddy E. Gray also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A private graveside service will be held Friday in the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating.
