Glenn Calvin Scaggs

Glenn C. Scaggs, 89, of Ellsinore, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mr. Scaggs, the son of the late Albert and Gladys (Cole) Scaggs, was born April 6, 1926 in Naylor. He was of the Baptist faith and over the years had worked as a river boat deckhand, a general laborer and a lumberjack. Mr. Scaggs proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWII, where while serving in Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands he was wounded in action. For his service he received a Purple Heart Medal. In 1950 and again with the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Scaggs proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, earning a Korean Service Medal with three Stars, a UN Service Medal-Korea and a National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, camping and fishing.

Survivors include three sisters, Linda Raymer, Mildred Kirkpatrick and Virginia Satz; and two brothers, Ray Scaggs and Mickey Scaggs.

A graveside service with full military honors will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13th at the Raymer Family Cemetery, RR 2, Box 2725 in Ellsinore, (Off N Hwy on CR 349) with Chris Raymer officiating.
