Glenon R. ""Glen"" Williams, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Williams was born July 24, 1928 in St. Louis, MO. He was of the Protestant faith, and had retired as an electrician for the McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co., in St. Louis. Mr. Williams was a member of IBEW Local Union #1; was a former Fire Chief for Wentzville Volunteer Fire Department in Wentzville, Mo., and was a Ham Radio Operator. Mr. Williams was also a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines having served in WWII. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the harmonica and using and working on computers.
On Nov. 8, 1947, he married Lois L. Shirley in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Gary Williams of Christiana, Tenn., Bruce Williams of San Diego, Calif., Debbie Williams of St. Peters, Mo. and Joy Williams of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Shawn Williams, Joshua Williams and Arick Williams; nieces and nephews, Jerry Francis and wife Rayma, Kenny Francis and wife Joan, Roger Nichols, Regina Velasquez and husband Fernando and Mike Barker and wife Donella; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
His parents, Roy and Ruth (Cassidy) Williams preceded Mr. Williams in death.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
