Gordon L. Long, 70, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Long, the son of the late Elmer and Addie Bell Ball Long, was born March 23, 1946 in Trumann, Ark. He served with the Arkansas National Guard from 1964 to 1970 and had retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer. Mr. Long was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, flying airplanes and home remodeling.
On Aug. 8, 1985, he married Patricia Campbell in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four children, Andrea Busby of Ellisville, Miss., Nathan Long of Arlington, Tex., Amelia Austin of Poplar Bluff and Ashley Neal of Puxico; two sisters, Anette Scroggins and Deb Peeler of Arkansas; and six brothers, Marlin Long, Phillip Long, , Wesley Long, William Long, James Long and Kirk Long all of Arkansas; 8 grandchildren; Alissa Austin, Jaysa Austin, D’Ante Powell, Breonna Powell, Jessica Byrd, Emilee Carvo, Hanna Carvo and Tristan Long; 1 great grandchild, Isbelle Byrd
Three brothers, Eddie Long, Bryon Long and Tommy Long also preceded him in death.
