Grace A. Turner Hellums

Grace Aileen Hellums, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Hellums was born Oct. 24, 1920 in Poplar Bluff to the late John and Rosetta Tibbs Turner. She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. During her earlier years Mrs. Hellums worked at Woolworth's as a sales clerk. She enjoyed spending time with her family, studying her Bible, reading and baking.

On July 22, 1948, she married Raymond Starling Hellums. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2010.

Survivors include six children: Joyce Darnell (Willie), John Casey (Earlene), Don Hellums (Debra), Stanley Hellums, and Carol Loury (Mike), all of Poplar Bluff, and Ron Hellums (Bonnie), of Mt. Washington, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Elizabeth Hellums, and two sisters, Minnie Miller and Evelyn ""Jimmie"" Burnett also preceeded Mrs. Hellums in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating and Rev. Ryan Arnett assisting. Burial will follow at Kern's Chapel Cemetery at Stringtown.
