Harlon H. Whittle

Harlon Hardin Whittle, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Whittle was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Calhoun City, Miss., and moved from Ark. to Butler County, Mo as a young man. He attended New Home General Baptist Church, and was a retired farmer. Mr. Whittle enjoyed reading his Bible and listening to gospel music.

On Nov. 15, 1941 he married Mary Doris Burris, in Corning, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Dowell Whittle, of Kerrville, Tex. and Glen Whittle, of Piedmont; a step-son, Lonnie Burris, of Red Stone, Co.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
