Harold Christian

Harold Christian, 81, a lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Christian was born Sept. 19, 1928 in Poplar Bluff, and was of the Baptist faith. He worked for 23 years with Missouri Utilities, and later worked for the Poplar Bluff Fire Dept. and in construction as well. Mr. Christian enjoyed raising animals, being outdoors and working in his garden.

On June 18, 1948 he married June Pulliam in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1999.

Survivors include three children, Jan Griffin and her husband Boyd, Fred Christian and his wife Jennifer and Kelly Christian all of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Daniel Lee Griffin of Bevier, Mo., Matthew Christian and his wife Lea of Poplar Bluff and Angela Nero and her husband Nick of Orlando, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Emily Griffin of Bevier, Mo., and Tyler Christian and Cole Christian both of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Anna Ferguson and her husband Bob; two brothers, Charlie Christian and his wife Nancy and Robert Christian; and sister-in-law, Barbara Christian.

His parents George and Allie L. Sizemore Christian, and three brothers, Arlo Christian, Kenneth Christian and Eddie Christian also preceded Mr. Christian in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating.
