Harrison Lafayette Spear, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Spear was born Aug. 3, 1922 in Puxico. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired as a truck driver. Mr. Spear also had worked at the Mobil Oil Co. as well as Parker Tire Co., and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Europe during WWII. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On July 7, 1946 he married Lucy McLain in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include three children: Linda Hill and husband Daniel of West Plains, Ronda Dunmire and husband Wayne of North Apollo, Pa. and James H. Spear and wife Marsha of North Pole, Alaska; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Spear and wife Shirley of Puxico.
Mr. Spear was preceded in death by his parents, Rafe and Bertie (Crabb) Spear.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with the Rev. Charles Marshall Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
